MTH 100 - Quantitative Literacy

Course Description

Quantitative Literacy focuses on developing mathematical maturity through problem solving, critical thinking, writing, and communication of mathematics. It integrates numeracy, proportional reasoning, algebraic reasoning, and functions with statistics and geometry as recurring course themes. Throughout the course, college success components are integrated with the mathematical topics.

Course Learning Outcomes

Knowledge:
  • Algebraic reasoning: Solve linear equations, understand linear functions
  • Algebraic reasoning: Analyzing with formulas and functions with technology
  • Develop literacy with graphs.
  • Numeracy and proportional reasoning: percents, proportions, dimensional analysis, rates, unit rates
  • Technologies: Graphing Calculator, Desmos, SALT, Excel/Sheets
