Course Description

This course builds upon the theoretical and practical applications learned in WPT 140. The student will be exposed to more advanced Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) positions. Successful students will be prepared for diverse professional applications. Group 2 course.

Course Learning Outcomes

Knowledge:
  • Define and use advanced terminology common to the welding trade as defined by the American Welding Society (AWS).
Application:
  • Demonstrate proper handling, setup, and adjustment of GMAW equipment for complex joint designs and advanced applications.

  • Demonstrate the ability to complete welds on ferrous metals (steel) in the flat, advanced positions with the GMAW process.

  • Recognize and articulate the importance of weld quality on the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
