This course provides an introduction and overview of the theories, concepts, and applications in the field of aviation safety to include accident theory, risk management, safety management systems, and principles of safe aircraft operation. Group 2 course.

Course Learning Outcomes

Knowledge:

• Be able to define common aircraft accident models using examples.

Application:

• Be able to analyze the identified hazards and design a practical risk mitigation strategy utilizing established risk management principles.

• Be able to correlate specific safe operational practices with the four functional pillars of an effective Safety Management System (SMS).

• Be able to evaluate how human factors such as fatigue, stress, cultural biases, and communication breakdowns contribute to accident models and reflect on their own potential role and biases in a collaborative flight environment.
