Course Description

Through structured classroom and hands-on skill building, the student will learn to work with copper pipe and fittings, cast-iron pipe and fittings, carbon steel pipe and fittings, corrugated stainless steel tubing, fixtures and faucets, drain waste and vent systems and water distribution systems. Group 2 course.

Course Learning Outcomes

Knowledge:

• Identify various pipe materials and fittings.
• Explain drain waste.
• Identify various vent systems.
• Identify water distribution systems.

Application:

• Perform different types of pipe and associated fittings; specifically thread, cut and solder.
• Install fixtures and faucets.
• Research Drain waste, Vent, and Water Distribution systems.

• Recognize the relationship between tardiness, attendance and work ethic.
• Compare and contrast specific piping techniques and their applications in a home.
• Measure how movement of water around a home requires air in specific locations.

• Identify how every job has its important aspects and our society relies upon a proper plumbing system.
