Course Description

Traffic Enforcement and Investigation will include traffic control enforcement, the law and prosecution of operating under the influence of alcohol. Student must be registered with LWE coordinator prior to class enrollment. Group 2 course.

Knowledge:
  • Describe traffic laws and civil responsibilities in the State of Michigan.
  • Students will identify the related legal issues governing Michigan Roadways.
Application:
  • Articulate the application of the Michigan Compiled laws and the UD-10 reporting system for accident reporting.
  • Employ methods of evaluating traffic stop scenarios and performing high risk traffic stops.

  • Explain department and society's expectations in traffic enforcement while on duty.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in driving through the use of course material, scenarios, and vehicle operation through a timed course.

  • Articulate how to use knowledge gained from the course in regards to; vehicle use, force continuum, and the appropriate driving responses based on a risk/reward system.
