Course Description

This is the second of a four-semester/two year sequence of coursework designed for students who are pursuing music as an academic major or minor. The content of this course is a continued building of skills as listed in MUS 103 through a variety of musical practices. Group 2 course.

Course Learning Outcomes

Knowledge:

• Identify intervals through P8.
• Identify types of triads and seventh chords.
• Identify major and 3 forms of minor scales.

Application:

• Sing m2-P8, major scale, 3 forms of minor scales, major and minor triads, and melodies using solfege.
• Clap and count, and sing and conduct simple and compound meter.

Integration:

• Transcribe rhythm dictation in simple meter and compound meter.
• Transcribe diatonic melodic dictation.
• Transcribe diatonic harmonic dictation.
