Course Description
This course is an introduction to the principles of crew resource management (CRM) and will acquaint students with the concepts and skills required of aircrew members in safely operating multi-place aircraft. Topics will include flight safety concepts, communications skills, effective teamwork principles, and aircraft accident case studies. Students will practice CRM concepts in the Frasca flight training device. Group 2 course.

Course Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:
- Describe the fundamental principles relating to the role of a first officer.
Application:
- Describe the effects communication has on the safe and effective outcomes of an aircraft flight.

- Incorporate effective CRM principles with real world aircrew interactions in aircraft requiring more than one pilot.
Human Dimension:
- Recognize how individual personality traits affects one's interactions with others in the midst of dynamic, safety-critical situations.
- Operate effectively as part of a multi-person crew.

- Describe how human errors, miscommunications, and responses contribute to aircraft accidents.
- Reflect on how their own actions and communication skills directly affect the safe outcome of any given flight.

- Analyze the effectiveness of crew interactions in rapidly changing situations to determine appropriate modifications to create safe resolutions to unsafe situations.
- Incorporate their own positive study habits as they prepare for recurrent training requirements of the FAA.
- Recognize the importance of self-study in keeping current in their profession.
