Course Description

A flight course designed to meet the aeronautical experience requirements for the FAA Instrument check ride. Upon completion of this course, the student will have attained the FAA Instrument Rating. Course requires 39.8 flight hours, 9.8 hours of pre/post, and 17.7 hours of ground instruction. Hourly rates effective March 2018 are $59/hour for ground instruction and $230/hour for the aircraft and flight instructor. Group 2 course.

Course Learning Outcomes

Knowledge:

• Per the FAA Airmen Certification Standards (ACS), explain Instrument Areas of Operation during the ground portion of the stage and practical tests in accordance with ACS requirements.

Application:

• Per the FAA Airmen Certification Standards (ACS), demonstrate competences in Instrument Areas of Operation during the ground and flight portion of the stage and practical tests in accordance with ACS requirements.

Integration:

• Per the FAA Airmen Certification Standards (ACS), demonstrate problem solving when mitigating risks encompassing personal minimums and maintaining fitness to fly during the ground and flight portion of the stage and practical tests, and in accordance with ACS requirements.
• Incorporate these Into all future flights.

• Per the FAA Airmen Certification Standards (ACS), evaluate their fitness to fly, and illustrate sound decision making and judgment.

• Recognize how their decisions and actions affects their passengers and people on the ground.

• Per the FAA recurrent training requirements, integrate prior learning and experiences to provided scenarios.
